I was invited by the Let’s Be Creatively Connected initiative to host and facilitate their 2022-2023 round of workshops. These workshops brought together students from The Hollins High School and residents of The Woodlands Care Home and Friargate Care Home in Burnley. The primary goal was to foster meaningful connections between the care home residents and school students through conversation and collaborative artwork.
Throughout the workshops, participants engaged in a variety of creative activities using different artistic mediums, including painting, stitching, mixed media, pottery, and textured paintings. This hands-on approach allowed participants to express themselves in diverse ways while building relationships and sharing experiences.
The culmination of the workshops was an exhibition, where the artwork created during the sessions was showcased. This event provided an opportunity to highlight the artistic efforts of both the students and residents, with the exhibition being presented to the wider community, including school staff, care home visitors, and their families.
